Hi. My name is Donovan. Over the years I have found myself with a pretty busy schedule. Working a full time job to pay bills, serving at multiple different churches and helping my wife build her business from the ground up.
I am married to my best friend and high school sweetheart, Victoria. Marriage has been a great adventure. Learning to put someone else above yourself every day is a challenge but it yields great rewards. It has taught me how to better work toward a goal while being partnered with someone else.
I am currently the father of cats that like to destroy everything that is in their path. And as most good dads would, I take every chance I can at getting them featured on the Cat’s on Amps Instagram page.
I have been serving the local church for 13 years now. Worship ministry is something that I have always looked forward to once I got involved. The devotion you find in a group of people serving God has always been something that inspires me.
In my years serving churches I developed a passion for investing in other church leaders. I have had some pretty amazing conversations with some great leaders and I always catch myself in the middle of them thinking “I wish I could be sharing this info with more people than just my team”. That is the reason I started this page. I want to be able to write blog posts that better equip music directors, guitarists and all musicians that take the stage on a Sunday.
I play guitar and music direct for Amplify Church in Pittsburgh, PA. I have been there for a little over two years. Overall I have been playing guitar and performing on stages for about 12 years. In that time I have served under some incredible leaders who have instilled a lifetime of wisdom into me. Guys like Chad Zollo: Pastor for Elevation Church’s Online Church and David Santistevan: Worship leader and writer for Allison Park Worship as well as the founder/owner of the “Beyond Sunday Worship” podcast and blog. These are just a few of some of the great leaders I have had the privilege to learn from.
Over the past 2 years I have set aside hundreds of hours to learn more about the Music Directing position. For the past 12 years I have pushed myself to become the best guitarist I can be. In that time I have served in a ton of different churches faithfully and have really learned a lot about how different churches do things. In all of my time serving I have also been able to develop a vast understanding of how to lead teams to be their best. In creating this site, I want to broaden my exposure and help more people than just the ones in my local community.
Its my goal to help equip you to be the best you can be. No matter what that looks like for you. Team leader, Music director, Guitarists and all musicians alike. We are all in this together
